Renishaw MH20i manual turning and swivel head
The MH20i probe head is one of the new generation of manually adjustable Renishaw probes. It is suitable for installation on new and existing coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and features the TP20 probe system's kinematic stylus mount, which allows reproducible probe module changes. This unique probe system allows productivity gains due to the fast change of modules or stylus configurations. The integration of the TP20 kinematic probe holder allows a compact design that increases the CMM's working volume. The Renishaw MH20i offers the particular advantage of repeatable position adjustment. For measuring tasks with many different positions, an increase in throughput is achieved in a very short time. Ideal for complex measuring tasks where multiple probe and stylus configuration files are required within a single measuring sequence.
The probe head has been specifically designed to take advantage of Renishaw's TP20 probe system, which allows the use of many different probe configurations without the need for time-consuming recalibration. The TP20 modular range offers a choice of probing force, length and direction options, allowing a maximum stylus length of 60mm and a total length of 145mm.
The RTP20 was developed especially for small low-cost CNC measuring machines. It offers the possibility to work with an automatic probe change as well as to rotate and swivel the probe fully automatically. The swivel movement is realized by the traversing movement of the coordinate measuring machine. The cost-effective RTP20 probe head with integrated TP20 probe holder offers the functionality of a motorized swivel head. The RTP20 is a new compact probe head for use on CNC-controlled coordinate measuring machines.
It allows to swivel in 168 different positions with repeat accuracy. It is positioned in both axes in 15° steps. Each required position is calibrated once. Time-consuming recalibration is no longer necessary and the measurement throughput is increased considerably. The automated positioning of the RTP20 probe head is achieved by moving the axes of the coordinate measuring machine. The positioning process can best be understood by watching the video. Otherwise, the characteristics of the head are identical to those of the MH20i.
Seven different TP20 probe modules are available. Each of them is designed to simplify and optimize a variety of measurement tasks. Measurements are also possible in hard-to-reach areas with the extended TP20 probe modules (EM1, EM2). For measurements in the Z direction, the TP20 6-way probe module is best suited. Seven application specific probe modules are available.
The MCR20 changing magazine was developed for the safe storage of the probe modules and for the automatic module change. At the same time it protects the probe modules from dirt.
The MH8 is a manually indexable turn/swivel head with M8 probe holder. The MH8 probe was developed for use on small, manually operated coordinate measuring machines and can be used with all probes with M8 thread. A 50mm extension can be used to increase the range of the probe. The MH8 is equipped with two indexable joint axes A and B. The probe holder is located on the joint of the A axis, which allows the probe to be swivelled from 0° to 90° in the Z plane. The B axis can move the probe by ±180° in the X-Y plane. A lever-operated mechanism locks both axes in the desired position for measuring the workpiece. The axes are unlocked to allow free rotation/swivel movement to another position. The positions required for measuring the workpiece can be set in both axes in 15° steps. A total of 168 positions are thus available.
When the MH8 is locked, the probe configuration is in a kinematically reproducible spatial position. This means that the probe configuration only needs to be calibrated once in the position required for the measuring task. Afterwards, this position can always be assumed exactly. A red LED on the front of the MH8 probe head indicates the status of the probe. The LED can be operated from the CMM controller or from a Renishaw probe interface. Normally the LED lights up in idle mode and goes out when the probe is deflected to indicate a probe signal. The electrical connection is via a 5-pin DIN connector.
The MIH manually indexable probe head has a total of 720 reproducible positions in 7.5° steps and is equipped with an LCD display and an auto-retainer for fast probe changing. Compatible with most Renishaw probes, but not with multi-sensors such as TP7M. An integrated LCD position display for easy programming and storage of up to 20 probe positions. Extensions up to 300 mm can be used.
The MIH-S (manual turn/swivel head with serial interface) is a further developed version of the MIH. It enables automatic position requests or position feedback via the RS232 interface of the MIH-S interface.
This enables the control system to:
System accuracy, functionality and dimensions correspond to those of the MIH.
The TP8 is extremely robust and inexpensive. It can be used on manual measuring machines as well as on CNC-controlled coordinate measuring machines. The TP8 has a permanently integrated touch probe. The 2D repeatability of this touch probe is +/-1 µm. The probing force is 0.13 N in the X-Y plane. The styli are fixed by an M3 thread. The TP8 must be recalibrated after each tilting. It cannot be combined with an automatic changing magazine.
